Server Operation

The operation of servers (i.e. computers that can be reached from the Internet) is (with a few exceptions such as VPN) only permitted with the consent of the dorm. For such servers, a fixed IP address without transfer limit is then assigned.

Whether "normal" residents also get the necessary server accounts and if so, under what conditions, is up to the dorm administration.

How Do I Get a Server Account?

The HAD creates a new server account, which must then be confirmed by the HVW and then activated by a VAD.

DNS for Servers

In the domain vc-graz.ac.at the dorm administration can request names for their servers operated in the VCG from the operator free of charge (e. g. like www.DORM.vc-graz.ac.at), names in other domains (and other networks) have to be purchased by the home administration from a provider they trust.
