Virtual Campus Graz
The Costs of VCG
The VCG was originally a project of TU Graz, in which later all Graz
universities and then also the UAS participated financially.
However, the technical operation is carried out by the "network department"
of the ZID of TU Graz, which was financed as follows until 2016:
- The Internet costs (approx. EUR 135,000/year) are borne by the
responsible Federal Ministry and also include the ACOnet participation fee.
- The local line rentals (approx. EUR 110.000/year) have to be paid by
the dorms from 2008 on, until 2007 the (lower) costs (for the old lines)
were paid by the Graz universities.
- The costs for hardware, maintenance, support and operation of the VCG
are borne by the partner organizations according to the share of the
residents.
As of the end of 2016, the internet costs continue to be borne by the Federal
Ministry, the costs for line rental are paid by the dorms and the costs for
hardware, maintenance and operation are now also paid by the dorms, namely
EUR 1.00 per resident (or account) and month.
